Training Activities

To equip you with a suitable toolset and background know-how to produce  FAIR - findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable - data we are developing a training portfolio covering general and subject-specific training programs tailored to different target groups (early career scientists, researchers, data managers etc.).

Training for early career scientists

We already offered training for early career scientists as part of a pre-workshop at the 45th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (GfÖ) in 2015. As outcome of the workshop we released some Education Modules. They deal with general topics that cover the whole data life cycle and help to address possible challenges during a research-study – starting with data-management planning, right through to data publication.

Such training can also be included graduate schools or in research training group programs.

Please contact us for more information.

Training for researchers and data managers

Training for researchers and data managers addresses persons who are responsible for data management at their institute/working group, etc. Our partners at the "Staatliche Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlungen Bayerns" (with SNSB IT Center) - a research institute for natural history in Bavaria - offer regular workshops for Diversity Workbench (DWB), a virtual research environment for the management and analysis of various kinds of biodiversity and geoscience data. It can be applied by institutions as well as individual researchers.

Outreach Activities

GFBio Roadshows

Meet GFBio and learn about our services!

To support researchers in meeting current challenges in data management, we are conducting on-site roadshows for individual researchers and working groups. We present the essentials of research data management and introduce the GFBio services. Additionally, you can test existing and upcoming GFBio tools.

Your feedback is valuable! By sharing and discussing your thoughts on data management issues with us you can actively contribute to the improvment of our Services.

If you and your working group are interested in a visit from us, contact us at outreach@gfbio.org. We are happy to hear from you!
